The Porch Stomp Folk Music Festival on Governors Island in New York City is a vibrant celebration of traditional and contemporary folk music set against the iconic backdrop of the city skyline. Nestled amidst the lush greenery of Governors Island, this annual event brings together an eclectic lineup of talented musicians, who perform on charming porches and pop-stages scattered throughout the island. Attendees can immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of folk music styles, from bluegrass to Americana, while soaking in the laid-back, community-driven atmosphere. With workshops, jam sessions, and opportunities for spontaneous collaboration, Porch Stomp fosters a sense of kinship among musicians and audience members alike, making it a cherished gathering for folk music enthusiasts from all walks of life.

The Porch Stomp 2024 Festival will take place on Saturday, June 15th from 11am-6pm on Governors Island, and will invite hundreds of folk bands, artists, and performing arts organizations to use the greenery of Nolan Park and Colonel’s Row as a space for performance and education. Each “stage” or porch is curated and produced by an arts organization or local venue that supports traditional arts, and will represent a specific folk community in New York City. 2024 partners include Cowgirl Seahorse, Brooklyn Contra, the Folk Music Society of NY, Jalopy Theater, The People's Voice Cafe, and more.

Porch Stomp is a free, volunteer-run music celebration produced in association with Make Music New York, a not-for-profit that connects music makers, fans and the public spaces of New York City. Unlike typical music festivals, anyone can take part in Porch Stomp, and all events are free and open to the public.
