Porch Stomp 2022!
Free and Participatory Celebration of Folk Music and Dance
on Governors Island
Saturday, June 18th, 11am-5pm
Porch Stomp is excited to announce plans for our annual festival, which will take place on June 18th from 11am-5pm. Set on beautiful Governors Island, Porch Stomp invites over one hundred folk bands, artists, and performing arts organizations to use the greenery of Nolan Park and Colonel’s Row as a space for performance and education, highlighting artistry ranging from traditional folk to old-time, blues, Cajun, Irish, bluegrass and Americana. Now in its ninth year, Porch Stomp offers unique performance and educational opportunities, including concerts, workshops and open jams. Each “stage” or porch is curated and produced by an arts organization or local venue that supports traditional arts, and will represent a specific folk community in New York City. 2022 partners will include the Irish Arts Center, Big City Folk, Cowgirl Seahorse, Sunny’s Bar, Brooklyn Contradance, and more. Food and beverage vending will be provided by Cowgirl Seahorse. Participatory activities include old-time, bluegrass, and cajun jams, a contradance workshop, and more!
Porch Stomp is a free, volunteer-run music celebration produced in association with Make Music New York, a not-for-profit that connects music makers, fans and the public spaces of New York City. Unlike typical music festivals, anyone can take part in Porch Stomp, and all events are free and open to the public.
