Sea Shanties at the Gowanus Canal
On Saturday, April 23rd from 4-7pm, Porch Stomp teams up with the Gowanus Dredgers to host “Sea Shanties at the Gowanus Canal,” a musical celebration of Earth Day. The participatory event will showcase nautical musical traditions, and educate audiences on how we can inspire more stewards of New York City’s shared waterways.
“Sea Shanties at the Gowanus Canal” will bring in several Sea Shanty experts including Vienna Carroll, Stuart Markus, and others, to lead audiences in group song, and share history of the musical tradition. Representatives from the Gowanus Dredgers and Billion Oyster Project will share information about their work, and how we can work towards a more sustainable future for the Gowanus Canal and other NYC waterways.
At the Gowanus Dredgers Club, 165 2nd St, Brooklyn, NY
