Brooklyn-based Canadian Singer-songwriter May Cheung has been active in the New York music scene for the past 9 years. Having imbibed a wide spectrum of music since she was a young child, May draws upon elements of jazz, pop, folk and indie-rock in her songwriting; attributing her influences to the likes of Neil Young, Simon & Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell, Nina Simone, Feist and Rufus Wainright. May has played in such highly-touted venues as Hotel Cafe, Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2, The Living Room, The Bitter End, Caffé Vivaldi, Pianos, Drom, and Sidewalk Cafe, just to name a few. Her debut album 'The Departure' has been described as “stunning from start to finish” by Huffpost. It was produced (and features the guitar work of) Nir Felder, mixed by The Shins’ Yuuki Matthews, and mastered by Grammy Award-Winner Chris Gehringer (Katy Perry). ‘The Departure’ is available now on iTunes, Spotify and Bandcamp.
